Mitford Hospital is a historic government hospital of Bangladesh. This hospital was established on 1st May 1858 and it was the first general Hospital of the eastern part of undivided British ruled Bengal. Mitford hospital is located in the old part of the capital, Dhaka. There is a medical college hospital and it is known as Sir Salimullah Medical College and the college is associated with the University of Dhaka. In 1972 Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Father of the Nation updated the Mitford Medical College as a full-fledge medical college.
