National Institute of Diseases of the Chest and Hospital (NIDCH) is a government hospital located in Dhaka and is a renowned chest disease hospital of Bangladesh. This hospital was established in 1955 as TB Hospital. In 1962, this hospital was upgraded to National Chest Diseases Institute. This is the only hospital in Bangladesh that is capable of providing specialized medical and surgical treatment to complicated chest and TB patients. NIDCH has the capacity of accommodating 685 patients suffering from Pulmonary Tuberculosis and allied diseases of the chest. Some of the objectives of this hospital are – 

• To provide diagnosis and treatment facilities for Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases
• To conduct Post-graduate courses and training facilities for DTCD, MD(Chest), MS(Thoracic Surgery), FCPS(Pulmonary), FCPS (Thoracic Surgery)
• To provide specialized training facilities for the chest specialists, nurses, and field workers
• To conduct research activities in the field of chest diseases
• To provide surgical treatment of chest diseases accordingly
• To provide and co-ordinate the management of Avian-Influenza, Pandemic H1N1
