Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) is the only public university in Bangladesh, which is supported by the Armed Forces. The university was founded on the basis of running all educational institutions of the Army, Navy and Air Force of Bangladesh. BUP also provides Professional Degrees for military personnel.
History
Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) is the 29th public university in Bangladesh. The university was established on June 5, 2008 with the objective of achieving excellence through knowledge.

Academics
BUP offers Bachelor’s degrees in 10 categories. These 10 categories concern various disciplines of engineering, medicine, and general education. The university offers Master’s degrees in 25 categories. The categories are formed from various disciplines of military studies, medicine, war studies. BUP also awards M. Phil.
Besides offering degrees in Engineering, Medicine, War & Conflict, BUP also has a Faculty of Business Studies that delivers education on MBA and Executive MBA programs. BUP conducts BBA programs too under this Department.
Although BUP was established for the development of military personnel, it also offers an opportunity for the students of the civilian community.
Roles
BUP is tasked with rearing civil and military human capital by providing education and research opportunity to keep pace with the topical world. BUP offers knowledge-based education and world-class research centers for both professionals and learners alike.
Since it is a university specially founded for military personnel, while keeping its door open for the students of the civilian community as well; as a result, BUP promotes civil-military relationship.
Many military personnel fail to continue the traditional form of education due to being deployed or trained, so creating a best possible atmosphere for allowing them to pursue higher education was essential. BUP aims to provide high-quality higher education for them.
